Reason to SMILE #71: DOGWOOD TREES
The season for the blooming of the Dogwood Tree is upon us. Although my allergies don’t appreciate this time of year, the visual effects of springtime are truly captivating. Trees are once again colored with vibrant greens. Bushes are speckled with hot pinks and bold purples. Flower beds are bursting with ruby reds and brilliant whites and sun-kissed yellows. Spring has sprung! How can anyone look at so many symbols of new life and not SMILE?
One of my favorite sights of Spring is the Dogwood Tree. Especially beautiful to me is a single Dogwood Tree overflowing with crisp, white blossoms nestled against a line of trees dense with green foliage. Oh, what beauty! The Creator really did know what He was doing, didn’t He?
What makes these flowered trees even more beautiful is their reminder to all of us that Easter is just around the corner. Gone are the long nights of darkness and seclusion. Gone are the days of dormancy and withdrawal. New life is bursting forth all around us heralding the celebration of our Risen Savior and Lord.
Easter is on the way and that, my friends, is the source of all of our SMILES!
John 3:16 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 5:11 (NIV)
11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
