Reason to Smile #312: CONTENTMENT
Would you like to know the secret to living a contented life? Well, here it is:
Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV) “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
The secret is reliance on Christ’s strength. Easy enough, right?
Sure. Tell that to my pride, my selfish desires and my jealous nature!
I’m working on it, though. It’s a process but I’m finding that the more content I am, the more I am able to count my blessings. And the more I am able to count my blessings, the more SMILES I am able to find.
More SMILES? Yes, please.
Okay, God. Please give me your strength to be content where you have me and with what you’ve given me. Help me to remember that your grace is always sufficient and you always provide. Give me the self-control to stop spinning around comparing my life to the lives of others. Help me to stop and be still so I can fully appreciate the multitude of blessings you have lavished upon me. What a patient, loving and generous God you are!
