What a Relief!

What a Relief! - Are you killing yourself trying to be like everyone else? Take a look at what God says about that. | https://acoupleofstarsandahappyface.wordpress.com

Hey, you!

Yes, I’m talking to you.

You do not have to be someone that you’re not.  Quit killing yourself trying to look like others, talk like others, act like others.

God made you to be – well, you.

You with your particular talents.

You with your unique skill set.

You with your one and only personality.

You with all of your quirks.

God doesn’t want you to ignore who He’s made you to be just so you can appear to be like someone else.  He doesn’t want you to throw away the talents and gifts He’s given you in order to fit the mold of the world.

God simply wants you to take what He’s given you and use it to point the world to Him.

Now, relax.

Be you.

And follow Him.

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Romans 12:6-8

I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made.

Psalm 139:14a

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Job 33:4

A Year of Smiles – Day 131

Reason to SMILE #131: LITE-BRITES

“Why do we go to church?” asked the Sunday School teacher.

Quickly, the children in the class responded with the usual answers one would expect to hear:File May 11, 11 14 51 PM

“To learn about God”,

“To learn about the Bible”,

“To worship God”.

“Now, tell me,” said the teacher. “Why do you go to church?”

An unusual silence fell over the students.  A few brave students finally spoke the revealing truth:

“To have fun”,

“Because mom and dad makes me”.

Then another child raised his voice, “We go to church so God can make us a Lite-Brite!”

Laughter erupted in the Sunday School classroom.  Little did these students know how right that little boy was!

As a child, I would play with my Lite-Brite for hours creating pictures full of brilliantly colored lights.  When each picture was finished, I would turn out all the lights leaving only the Lite-Brite to shine.  To my delight, flecks of colored light pierced through the darkness and illuminated my room.

This child’s toy is actually the perfect picture of what God’s Church should be to the world.  With the uniqueness of each member, all come together to create the brilliant colors of light that shine out into a darkened world.  The combination of our individual lights forms the shining pictures of God’s Love, His Truth and His Salvation that drive away the shadows of loneliness, deception and death.

Imagine the brilliantly beaming SMILES when God’s children join together to shine out like a Lite-Brite for all the world to see!
